AzuDisgaea is a crossover fanfiction written by Zairak combining Azumanga Daioh and the video game/anime Disgaea. It places the main cast and a few minor characters as demon mercenaries in the netherworld realms of Disgaea. The story was originally meant to be divided into two parts, "Pre-Overlord Tomo" and "Post-Overlord" Tomo, however Zairak changed how he planned the story to play out.
Plot[]
The storyline focuses on a Netherworld whose overlord, Overlord Azuma, has been recently assassinated, occurring after the girls were hired to protect him. This leads to Tomo planning to become the next overlord, not as a bid for power but to help reshape the state their world is in. The girls then enter a free-for-all tournament to become overlord, an element borrowed from the original Disgaea.

Azumanga Daioh[]
- Tomo (Class: Thief) – Tomo maintains her "wildcat" personality in this world, as well as her history with Yomi, but also shows a love of rare items and talking down her enemies. As a thief, she isn't very powerful, but has a habit of charging headfirst into battle.
- Kagura (Class: Warrior) – Kagura is shown to have a love of fighting. The more challenging the task, the more willing she is to do it. However, Kagura will also rush to her friends' rescue when they are in danger. Her one-sided rivalry with Sakaki also carries on in this world.
- Sakaki (Class: Rune Knight) – Sakaki has a level of fighting skill that is highly impressive for her age. As part of who she is, she will fight harder to protect those close to her. She also acts as leader of the part of the team known as the Secondary Assault Team, consisting of herself, Tomo, and Osaka.
- Yomi (Class: Cleric) – Yomi does not seem to follow the rules of a traditional cleric, as she has a level of physical strength deemed "unreasonable". In many respects, she acts as Tomo's counterbalance, acting as the strategist while Tomo simply charges in, acting as the healer as Tomo tends to get herself hurt, etc.
- Chiyo (Class: Archer) – Chiyo is a master archer, she can hit a target with better accuracy than Tomo or Yomi, from farther away. However, she usually acts as support only, simply to keep team morale high, as she does not enjoy hurting others except in the most dire situations.
- Osaka (Class: Beast Tamer) – In this world, Osaka still retains her nickname due to actually being half-human, born and raised in the city of Osaka. That being said, her randomness also translates into her fighting ability. She deals out damage at random levels. She also can get lost in her own world mid-battle and not take any damage from anything.
- Yukari (Class: Succubus) – Yukari acts partially as the leader, alongside Nyamo. She is practically the same as in the anime. However, she instead uses her innate magical ability as her sign of superiority to Nyamo. Yukari leads the Support Team, consisting of herself, Yomi, and Chiyo.
- Nyamo (Class: Nekomata) – Member of a cat-like race of demons known for their physical prowess. The most powerful fighter among the group, as well as the most able to make sound decisions in battle. Leads the Primary Assault Team, consisting only of her and Kagura.
- Kaorin (Class: Kunoichi) – Kaorin is very stealthy, but not very powerful. She doesn't travel with the rest of the girls on a common basis, but her stealth allows her to find high paying jobs long before other mercenaries do. Kaorin's fighting abilities increase when Sakaki is around and even more so if she is in danger.
- Tadakichi-san (Class: White Dragon) – Acts not only as Chiyo's protector, but as Mayaa's teacher. Unlike in other Azuverses, here he is able to talk, similar to many monsters in Disgaea.
- Mayaa (Class: Mini-Manticore) – Mayaa is also shown to have a love of battle, attributed to his roots in the wild. Also able to talk, takes to referring to Sakaki as "mama".
- Kamineko (Class: Mini-Manticore) – Kamineko is shown to have a severe Hatred for humanoid demons, especially Sakaki for turning Mayaa against him, as well as Mayaa for siding with humanoids in the first place. In this world he is shown as psychotic, and combined with his demonic powers make him downright dangerous. Also capable of speech.
- Chihiro (Class: Legendary Senator) – Little has been revealed so far about Chihiro, as she has only appeared to announce the tournament. Highest Senator in the Dark Assembly, pretty much the "Congress" of the Netherworld.
- Miruchi and Yuka (Class: Archer) – Other than their existence in the story, little has been reveled about them, more will be found out as the story continues.
- Kimura (Class: Senator) – Kimura acts as a Senator in the Dark Assembly, as well as the tournament coordinator.
Disgaea[]
- The Legendary Blacksmith – Mentioned in Chapter 6 as the person who made the weapons for most of the girls.
- Axel – Acts as the host for the tournament, seen interviewing Akira, Kamineko, and Tomo. Tomo seems to be a fan of him.
- Etna – Enters the tournament to finally become an Overlord, telling Laharl that she's "scouting out new lands to take over".
- Laharl – Makes a brief appearance with Laharl from Azumanga Daioh Returns, apparently about to punish him, painfully, for impersonating him.
Original Characters[]
- Piggy-chan (Class: Orc) – An Orc that seems to follow Osaka around, he shares the same blank stare as Osaka and listens intently to her musings.
- Akira (Class: Majin) – A seemingly lesser villain from the opening chapters, attempting to become overlord by capturing Chihiro and making use of her influence in the Assembly. Named after Akira Toriyama, as the Disgaea 2 Majin Class' appearance is an obvious Dragonball Z parody.
- Motoko (Class: Beast Tamer) – Apparently knew Osaka while training to become a Beast Tamer, refers to her as Ayumu rather than Osaka. One of Akira's most loyal minions.
- Professor Saisei (Class: Scientist) – A master of both science and magic, combining the two for various purposes. Will have something to do with the appearance of any Azu-children that may appear in AzuDisgaea.
- Funakounasoul's Koyomiko (Class: Mage) – Not yet introduced, child of Tomo and Yomi. Inherited Yomi's magical abilities but used them for attack magic due to Tomo's influence.
- Jamesbondkid's Koharu (Class: Sinner) – Not yet introduced. Created due to a mishap in Saisei's lab. Combines Kaorin's speed and stealth with Kagura's sheer power for a deadly combination.
- Kuroshin (Class: Demon Lord) – A man shrouded in mystery, he has connections to both Sakaki and Kagura's pasts. Sakaki used to take orders from him as a result of mind control, and he is also responsible for the deaths of Kagura's parents.
- ADR Laharl (Class: Pvt. Prinny) – Shown in Chapter 10, is met by the real Laharl, about to be punished for "daring to impersonate the great Laharl".
- Banzai (Class: Warrior) – A warrior with a "rough around the edges" attitude, works alongside Etna. Both have agreed that they'd betray the other given the chance, but it's in their best interests to work together. Based om a character Zairak had in his original Disgaea save, his strongest until unlocking the Majin Class.
- Anko (Class: Not revealed yet) – Motoko's daughter, first shown on Zairak's cover design, she has not yet appeared in the story.
